A Venezuela anunciou segunda-feira que recebeu um pedido formal de asilo do ex-técnico da CIA Edward Snowden, procurado por Washington depois de ter revelado uma rede de espionagem global.

Washington alertou que não deve ser permitida a partida de Snowden para outro país que não seja os Estados Unidos, em resposta às ofertas de asilo que o jovem tem recebido da América Latina.

O presidente venezuelano já reagiu:

“Os Estados Unidos não governam nem o mundo, nem a Venezuela. Somos um país livre e soberano governado pelo povo, por um governo legítimo eleito pelo povo”, sublinhou.

Nicolás Maduro referiu também que ainda não falou com Snowden, mas que gostaria de o fazer.

Edward Snowden, que se encontra na zona de trânsito do aeroporto de Moscovo desde 23 de junho, poderá ainda usufruir do apoio do presidente cubano Raul Castro; um apoio muito importante dado que não existem voos comerciais diretos entre Moscovo e a Venezuela, mas sim com escala em Havana.
