<p>O fotógrafo Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii tornou-se famoso na Rússia depois de ter tirado uma fotografia a cores de Leo Tosltoy.</p> <p>Em 1909, o fotógrafo conquistou a atenção do Czar Nicolau II que lhe concedeu financiamento e autorização para embarcar no trabalho que descreveu como sendo a “obra da sua vida”.</p> <p><img src="https://static.euronews.com/articles/285886/546x487_andrei_petrov.jpg"></p> <p>Prokudin-Gorskii passou os 10 anos seguintes a viajar no extenso império russo, registando as suas descobertas em mais de 10 mil fotografias a cores, reveladas numa câmara escura de um vagão de comboio modificado.</p> <p><img src="https://static.euronews.com/articles/285886/556x493_girl.jpg"></p> <p>Em 1918, pouco depois do início da Revolução Russa, Prokudin-Gorskii deixou o país e acabou por se estabelecer em Paris com a família. Ao deixar a Rússia, cerca de metade dos seus negativos foram confiscados pelas autoridades.
